Indie Platform or Corporate Playground? You Don't Have to Chase Us Around to Know Where We Stand.

Updated: Feb 8

The platform initially promised a dedicated space for independent creators to shine, but lately...?
Done sharing spotlight space with Marvel and DC on platforms that promised indie creators would shine. We're bringing everything back to altshiftnerd.com where it belongs. Big things coming! Stay tuned...

While we've appreciated some of the innovative features GlobalComix brought to the table, we've decided to step back from using it as a primary hub for ALT+SHIFT+NERD content. The platform initially promised a dedicated space for independent creators to shine, but lately...? The environment has shifted hard. Newsletters, homepage features, spotlight sections? All increasingly dominated by the big corporate giants like Marvel and DC. The whole point of an indie alternative is providing a spotlight for creators who don't have corporate marketing budgets, but we're finding ourselves yet again forced to compete for attention against the same massive companies that already own the rest of the market.

The whole point of an indie alternative is providing a spotlight for creators who don't have corporate marketing budgets, but we're finding ourselves yet again forced to compete for attention against the same massive companies that already own the rest of the market.

On a practical level, the juice simply hasn't been worth the squeeze. The behind-the-scenes creator tools have become increasingly clunky to navigate—hell, even just to keep track of. Wrestling with confusing upload features and muddy statistics takes valuable time away from actually producing content, and the payoff just isn't there to justify the extra headache. We want to spend our energy creating stories, not fighting with a user interface that seems designed to make the process harder than it needs to be for both us and our readers.

Ultimately, it makes the most sense to stop scattering our library across the web and instead focus on the one place where you can get the full experience: right here at altshiftnerd.com. By keeping ALT+SHIFT+NERD content centralized on our home site, we ensure you're getting the stories in the highest quality, whole and complete—exactly as they were intended to be seen. It's simply less confusing for everyone to have a single destination where the stories and characters you love all live together under one roof, rather than asking you to jump between platforms just to keep up with the continuities and worlds we're building.

Seems as if we've disappeared or went quiet, but the reality couldn't be any further from the truth!

And here's the thing: we didn't make this decision lightly, but we're damn confident it's the right move. We've been quietly building something substantial behind the scenes—a complete ecosystem of tools, stories, and experiences that will make altshiftnerd.com the only destination you'll need for everything we create. When you see what's dropping in the next couple months, you'll understand exactly why we needed full control of our own platform. ALT+SHIFT+NERD isn't just stepping away from third-party platforms—we're positioning ourselves to deliver content and functionality that simply wouldn't be possible anywhere else. Seems as if we've disappeared or went quiet, but the reality couldn't be any further from the truth! The machinery's been running. The pieces are coming together. And when they do? You'll see we weren't just talking.

Stay locked in, here with us on this site!

The wait will be worth it.
