How the HANDHELD Comic Series Works

Our flagship title, HandHeld, is the main hub for all our comic book characters, Groovy Toons! or other continuities. When you pick up an issue, you aren't just getting one story; you are getting a curated collection of stories featuring multiple popular characters. While some issues may focus on a single arc to establish a new title character or protagonist (like HandHeld #1), most issues offer a variety of different series, all in ONE book! 😃 This ensures that even if one character isn’t your favorite, you’ll likely find another story in an issue, that you'll love. We believe this format offers the best value. It maintains a high bar for quality while providing a substantial reading experience—a perfect balance between "binge-reading" and the traditional single "floppy" issue.

Our goal is to combine the best aspects of the Eastern and Western comic markets, into a hybrid model of sorts. Think of it this way: Imagine if you could buy one comic book and get a Spider-Man chapter, an X-Men chapter, and an Avengers chapter all in one package. This anthology approach solves the problem of market saturation. Instead of asking you to buy ten different single (floppy) issues, the monthly stories would be funneled into a single book, giving you more value for your money. 😍 This also would benefit the comic company and comic shop/book store retailers.

This model also benefits the creative process. It reduces "event fatigue" by avoiding complex crossovers that require reading guides just to follow along. Furthermore, it allows our creative teams to build a "buffer," ensuring that if an artist needs more time, the overall release schedule isn't disrupted.

Once a character’s specific arc is completed in the HandHeld anthology series, those specific series stories will be collected into their own stand-alone book. That way, readers who prefer one series or love a particular character, can eventually have a bulk of that content together in one book! HandHeld is an experiment in a new, practical path for comics—a steady, 60-page middle ground between the single issue and the trade paperback.

Two months after release, content from HandHeld will begin to trickle out online (either discounted or free). By purchasing the book, you get the full stories immediately, rather than waiting for previews or partial story updates. We want to make sure the content is eventually available to everyone, regardless of budget, but buying the book is the premium, "fast-pass" experience.😃
